CRT Fundamentals

Technologist focusedInteractive lessonConceptual education

Learn the purpose of cardiac resynchronization and how coordinated ventricular pacing differs from standard bradycardia pacing.

Learning objectives

SynchronyUnderstand the goal of cardiac resynchronization therapy.
SystemRecognize conventional RV and LV pacing components.
AssessmentKnow that electrical pacing is only one part of CRT evaluation.

The CRT concept

Cardiac resynchronization therapy aims to improve ventricular activation coordination in appropriately selected patients. Conventional CRT commonly uses a right ventricular pacing site plus left ventricular stimulation, often via a coronary venous lead.

What technologists should understand

CRT assessment may involve lead performance, pacing percentages, rhythm, AV/VV timing concepts, QRS behavior and broader clinical response. Device-specific optimization and programming are clinician-directed.

What is the central concept behind CRT?

Educational scope: Device programming, implant decisions, therapy changes, alerts and patient management require appropriately credentialed clinicians, institutional protocols, and current manufacturer instructions.
